Frequently Asked Questions
Where will my session take place?
Your session will take place in a quiet, comfortable treatment room designed for focused corrective bodywork. The space is private, professional, and set up to support your comfort during the session.
Do I need to be completely undressed?
You should undress only to your level of comfort. Most hands-on bodywork is traditionally done with the client unclothed under proper draping, but your comfort and boundaries always matter.
You will be properly covered throughout the session.
Will I be covered during the session?
Yes. Professional draping is used at all times. Only the area being worked on will be uncovered, and all services are strictly professional and non-sexual.
Will you be in the room while I undress?
No. I will leave the room while you undress, get on the table, and cover yourself.
What parts of my body will be worked on?
That depends on your goals, symptoms, posture, restrictions, and what your body presents that day.
Corrective fascia-focused bodywork often looks beyond the area of pain. For example, shoulder pain may involve the neck, chest, ribs, back, hips, or postural compensation patterns. Each session is individualized.
What will the work feel like?
This is not a general relaxation massage. The work may include slow, specific pressure, fascia-focused release, deep muscle work, positional work, and attention to compensation patterns.
Some areas may feel tender, intense, or restricted, but the work should never feel unsafe or unbearable. Communication is important. If the pressure or position feels like too much, please tell me so I can adjust.
Is this the same as deep tissue massage?
No. This work is more specific and corrective than a general deep tissue massage.
Deep tissue massage is often a broader, full-body style of massage that uses traditional strokes such as effleurage and petrissage to relax tight muscles, improve circulation, and create an endorphin-based relaxation response.
Corrective fascia-focused bodywork is different. Instead of following a routine or simply applying deeper pressure, this work looks at how the body is compensating as a whole — including fascia restriction, muscle guarding, posture, joint stress patterns, and movement habits.
The goal is not just to press harder. The goal is to work with more precision, address the patterns behind the tension, and help the body move with more ease and support.
What should I do during the session?
You can relax, breathe, and communicate when needed. I may gently move a limb, ask you to adjust your position, or check in about pressure or sensation.
You do not need to “perform” during the session. Just let me know if something feels too intense, uncomfortable, or not right.
How might I feel after a session?
Many clients feel looser, lighter, more mobile, or more relaxed. Some people may feel temporary soreness, fatigue, tenderness, or awareness of areas that were restricted or compensating.
This can be a normal response after corrective bodywork, especially when chronic patterns are being addressed. Hydration, gentle movement, and rest can be helpful afterward.
What are the benefits of corrective bodywork?
Corrective bodywork supports improved mobility, reduced muscle tension, better posture awareness, improved range of motion, decreased strain patterns, and a better sense of how your body is moving and compensating.
Results vary by person and depend on the condition, history, consistency of care, and how the body responds.
Is this medical treatment or physical therapy?
No. Massage by Rehanna provides professional massage therapy, corrective fascia-focused bodywork, wellness education, postural observations, and movement-based support.
Services are not a substitute for medical care, physical therapy, diagnosis, or treatment from a licensed medical provider.
Are there conditions where massage or bodywork may not be appropriate?
Yes. Please let me know about any medical conditions, injuries, surgeries, medications, pregnancy, blood clot history, infections, fever, contagious illness, skin conditions, or new/unexplained symptoms.
If you are under a doctor’s care or have a serious medical condition, written clearance from your provider may be required before receiving bodywork.
What if I am sick or have been around someone sick?
Please do not come to your appointment if you are sick, developing symptoms, have been around someone sick within the past 5 days, or have not been symptom-free for at least 5 full days.
There is no cancellation fee for sudden illness when you notify me as soon as possible. This protects my health, my clients, and the treatment space.
Are services professional?
Yes. All services are strictly professional, therapeutic, and non-sexual.
I am licensed through the Arizona State Board of Massage Therapy and hold an Associate of Applied Science degree in Health Sciences. My work is grounded in professional massage therapy, corrective fascia-focused bodywork, and years of hands-on experience with posture, compensation patterns, and movement restriction.
